Not Your Ordinary Weiner..
Salt Lake is full of fine dining and tasty food. One of the newest vegetarian/vegan eateries is right downtown. City Dogs, owned and operated by Tasha and Dee, is a savory place to pick up an appetizing dog, taco or sandwich. If you’re like me and don’t like normal hot dogs and aren’t sure you want to devour some soy dog that tastes like a real hot dog, you’ll definitely be satisfied with City Dogs. After taking my first bite of the Chili Cheese Dog, I was sold.
When Tasha and Dee were asked why they had started a veggie dog stand in SLC, they responded,
“We wanted to get vegetarian food out on the streets for people to try. We felt like Salt Lake City needed a unique, fast food veggie joint and thought it would be a good idea to do basic food that everyone likes. It has been a fun experience so far. Not only do we get to hang outside all day, but we get to meet so many cool people. It also gives us a chance to be living examples of how beneficial a vegetarian lifestyle is. We hope to open more minds toward a vegetarian diet.“

This isn’t just like other ubiquitous fast food chains that dot the earth, this is a dream made reality, and, following their dreams, Tasha and Dee offer Salt Lake a unique vegetarian alternative to an American favorite food. They compliment your dog with delicious flavors and a combination of great veggies that you just can’t find anywhere else.
City Dogs doesn’t only appeal to vegetarians or vegans; people of all dietary habits can find tantalizing food there. Andy Carter, a local SLC resident who eats meat but is open to try vegetarian alternatives, said this about City Dogs:
“The cart was clean, had a really good sign, it made you feel good about eating their food. The owners of the cart were the ones working it and they seemed really stoked on what they were selling and just downright happy to be out there. I started out on a “City Dog,” basically a veg dog in a bun with all sorts of sautéed vegetables on top. Man, was that good. The dog was really tasty and had a good consistency. The next one I tried was the taco. Hands down, one of the best tacos I have ever had meat or no meat. After the taco I went on to the chili cheese dog. Ok, so I am a huge chili cheese dog fan so I figured this was going to be a challenge to top. They didn’t let me down, it was really good. In summary I give two thumbs up to City Dog.“
City Dogs richly enhances the SLC dining experience with a unique eatery that adds to the diversity of the downtown area. And summertime is an ideal tme to hang out in the shade on such a sultry afternoon as today, while munching down on a succulent veggie dog. I hope to see you down there.

They should consider franchising! We need that here in California!
City Dog sounds really good. I only wish they’ll grow soon and come to my town…
Thanks for the post!
I tried their namesake selection, the City Dog, recently and it was awesome! I hope they get good business and are able to add a few more carts throughout Salt Lake City, vegetarian fast food like this is an excellent idea with broad appeal…
