Wasatch Veg: Vegetarian living on the fault-line.

WasatchVeg is a website created by a team of long time, locally raised, vegetarians who have seen a need for a locally managed websource to help those many of us living in and/or around the Wasatch front, become more aware of the great many veg friendly things this great area has to offer. WasatchVeg will feature a host of articles on many topics including: Veg friendly choices at restaurants (both locally owned and chain), WasatchVeg spotlights (local vegetarian of the week), health, news, veggie rants, local events, and much more. We hope to provide you with the most up to date info on all things Wasatch and all things Veg, thus creating a more enjoyable area, and better life for all those living on the fault-line. Thanks for the interest and check back often for updates as our team will randomly post sundry articles, all of which will keep you coming back for more.
Thanks again, Your WasatchVeg Team
Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances for survival of life on Earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet. —Albert Einstein

I think this is a great site! I don’t know of many local vegitarians, so I’m looking forward to watching this site develop. Question: Isn’t vegitarianism against the Word of Wisdom?
Thanks for the interest Whitney,
This is a common question we hear living in the area that we do. We are as a matter of fact, actually in the process of doing a multi part series covering “Vegetarianism and World Religions”. These articles will cover many topics of interest from all major religions throughout the world. In addition, we will be featuring an article strictly covering “Latter Day Saint Beliefs and the Word of Wisdom”. We will be posting these articles and many more shortly. Though until we get a chance to post it, here is one of my favorite quotes on the subject from Joseph Smith.
“Let them alone…don’t hurt them! How will the serpent ever lose his venom, while the servants of God possess the same disposition, and continue to make war upon it? Men must become harmless, before the brute creation; and when men lose their vicious dispositions and cease to destroy the animal race, the lion and the lamb can dwell together, and the suckling child can play with the serpent in safety!”
Thanks again for your post Whitney. Feel free to contact often. Your friends at WasatchVeg
Nice site. I look forward to seeing it grow.
This one is for Whitney:
D&C 89:12-15 (The Word of Wisdom)
Yea, flesh also of beasts and the fowls of the air, I, the Lord, have ordained for the use of man with Thanksgiving; nevertheless they are to be used sparingly:
And it is pleasing unto me that they should not be used, only in times of winter, or of cold, or famine.
All grain is ordained for the use of man and beasts, to be the staff of life, not only for man but for the beasts of the field, and the fowls of heaven, and all wild animals that run or creep on the earth;
And these hath God made for the use of man only in times of famine and excess hunger.
…..seems pretty straightforward to me
I’m stoked for this website. I’d like to be as knowledgeable as you guys are on the subject. I’m sure everyone will benefit from reading the articles you prepare. Thanks for doing this, I’m really looking forward to it.
